How transport works

Our animals travel to the UK in a highly equipped DEFRA approved van by our animal transport team. Each animal has their own pod with aircon within the van to ensure the jouney is as comfortable as possible for them. The journey takes around 2 days to get from Romania to the UK, usually leaving on a Wednesday morning & arriving at the Eurotunnel in Folkestone, Kent on Thursday afternoon/evening. The van then travels around England to pre agreed collection points where you will need to collect your animal from. A few days before travel you would be added into a messenger group chat, here you will recieve updates of their journey and be able to ask any questions you may have.

Once they have crossed the border into the UK, this is when you would get an estimated time of arrival for your cat/dog. They can arrive into the UK at anytime depending on delays, we have no control over this, your estimated time of arrival can be anytime during the day or night so you need to make yourself available for collection between the Thursday afternoon and Friday evening.

Once you have been approved to adopt, you will be given a collection point, in England, to collect your cat/dog. It is usually within 2 hours of your home. Please ensure this is possible for you to do before you apply.

    YOUR DETAILS

    YOUR FAMILY:
Here at Sirius we are one big family. As you are about to become a part of ours, we would love to know a bit more about you and yours.

    YOUR HOME:
We ask about your home, for your benefit and your prospective pups.

    YOUR ANIMALS / EXPERIENCE:
Our Sirius pups are all so very friendly. Some though, may be better suited to homes either with or without other pets, this is why we ask about your resident animals, plus it gives us a better sense of your family.
We ask about your experience as sometimes due to their start in life your pup may need someone who is familiar with certain behaviours.

    PLAN FOR YOUR DOG:
Adopting or fostering a dog is a massive commitment and we only like to just make sure that in your excitement you have thought about all of the options around your dog’s care if you are not around or if your dog should need to visit the vet.

    SIRIUS ANIMAL RESCUE:
We regularly monitor our social media platforms and we like to know how you heard about us. It may even have been from a friend or family member who has lots of lovely things to say.

    AGREEMENTS:
As previously mentioned, choosing to foster or adopt a dog is a huge commitment and we want to make this as comfortable for you and your chosen dog as we possibly can. The best way for us to do this is by being as informative as possible about what this may entail. So, we have listed some below. Please don’t be daunted by anything you read, your dog will be happy to come into your loving home and will learn and grow with your family.
Many of our dogs have been the subject of abuse and harsh treatment in Romania and all adopters should be aware of this. It could take a little while for your dog to get to know you, know their name and have good recall. In the first few weeks you will need to be aware that you need to prevent any escape artist dogs! Bonding time for your new dog is very important.

GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION (GDPR):Your privacy is important to Sirius Animal Rescue and we take our responsibility regarding the security of your personal information very seriously. We are committed to protecting your personal information and to being transparent about the information we are collecting and what we do with it. To process an adoption or fostering application, we will need to share selected information such as your name, address and contact details. We will discuss the data needed to be shared with you at the time of your enquiry. We use Facebook messenger for much of our communication and correspondence, also by email, and will contact you by telephone to follow up on the progress of the dog you adopt. We do not pass any personal data to marketing companies. All data will be kept in a secure environment for a maximum of three years, at which point it will be safely disposed of. Please contact Sirius Animal Rescue should you require any further information or clarification regarding our Data Protection.
In order to continue with this application, and to be able to communicate with you about it, we need your consent. Please sign, date and delete where appropriate, to confirm your understanding and consent.

Please ensure you submit your home videos via facebook/twitter/email or your application cannot be reviewed by the adoptions team.

We try to be as responsive as possible to all our potential adopters, so please bear with us for a reply. But if you haven’t heard anything within 3 weeks then unfortunately your application has been unsuccessful. Thank You
