How did you hear about Sirius Animal Rescue?
AGREEMENTS:
As previously mentioned, choosing to foster or adopt a dog is a huge commitment and we want to make this as comfortable for you and your chosen dog as we possibly can. The best way for us to do this is by being as informative as possible about what this may entail. So, we have listed some below. Please don’t be daunted by anything you read, your dog will be happy to come into your loving home and will learn and grow with your family.
Many of our dogs have been the subject of abuse and harsh treatment in Romania and all adopters should be aware of this. It could take a little while for your dog to get to know you, know their name and have good recall. In the first few weeks you will need to be aware that you need to prevent any escape artist dogs! Bonding time for your new dog is very important.
Are you aware that over the course of its life a dog can get sick or have an accident? Are you prepared financially to cover the cost of vets’ bills?
Do you understand that many of the dogs from Romania have no history of having lived in a home or with a family?
Many have been strays and may have lived in a kennel for a long period of time. It is likely that they are not house trained. They may have no obedience training. They will need patience, understanding and time to adjust to their new environment. Can you offer this?
Do you also understand that we often have no record of the history of the dogs or of any behavioral or medical issues they may or may not have or may develop?
Do you understand that the dogs we bring to the UK are ex-stray dogs and may have spent time living on the streets before they were rescued?
